10 years of Artemisia

Atelier Borgo San Jacopo 11, Via Ramaglianti 2

Today is a special day, it is the tenth anniversary of the inauguration of my atelier Artemisia Restauro.

It was just 9 September 2003!

I share these pictures of my atelier from the first in a little store inside Palazzo Pucci near to the Duomo where began this adventure to 88R Via Romana, to Piazza San Felice up to the present site in the Borgo San Jacopo 11, via Ramaglianti 2, site of the old synagogue in Florence.

I thank all the people who believed in my work and who continue to support me.

We're a little crazy and we continue to believe that it is possible to have an art studio in the historic center of Florence.

Oggi è un giorno speciale, è il decimo anniversario dell'inaugurazione della mia bottega Artemisia Restauro. 

Era proprio il 9 settembre 2003!

Condivido queste immagini del mio atelier dal primo in un piccolissimo fondo dentro Palazzo Pucci vicissimo al Duomo in cui è iniziata questa avventura, passando per via Romana 88R, Piazza San Felice fino alla attuale sede i Borgo San Jacopo 11, via Ramaglianti 2, sede dell'antica sinagoga di Firenze.

Ringrazio tutte le persone che hanno creduto nel mio lavoro e che continuano a sostenermi.

Siamo un po folli e continuamo a credere che sia possibile avere una bottega d'arte nel centro storico di Firenze.

Restoration of a little sculpture of Saint Isidoro

This small wooden sculpture arrived into the atelier broken into several parts, the head was detached and in two and the eyes in  glass paste was removed luckily without breaking. 

In addition, as you can see from the pictures the head is not wood but is modeled in stucco plaster and connected to the body by a wodden pin. 

The difficulty has been to rebuild the site for the left eye and at the same time to paste the head. In the other photo you see the final result.

Ancient tecjniques

Last Saturday, thanks to Alessia of guidedtoursofflorence was organized a lecture on ancient techniques in my studio; fresco, egg tempera, oil, gilding and a few basic notions on the restoration of works of art for eleven licensed tourist guides of Florence.

Tetsuo bed

Testuo loves sleeping his new bed closer to my work desk.

But it 's a good position to guard the window and bark at every male dogs passing!

Tetsuo ama dormire nel suo nuovo letto vicino al mio tavolino da lavoro. Ma e' in una buona posizione anche per fare la guardia alla vetrina e abbaiare a ogni cane maschio che passa!

The only part of day web the sun enters in this narrow road and the oblique light emphasizes the rough surface of the two towers in front of my atelier.

L'unico momento della giornata in cui il sole penetra in questa stretta strada e la luce radente enfatizza la superficie mossa delle due torri davanti al mio studio.
